Project Director Infrastructure

About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Project Director Infrastructure to lead major infrastructure and masterplan development projects across Saudi Arabia. This full-time leadership position is based in Riyadh and involves overseeing the planning, design, management, and successful delivery of complex multidisciplinary infrastructure programs for government entities, giga-project developers, and private-sector clients.

The Project Director will drive project performance, ensure technical excellence, maintain strong client relationships, and provide strategic direction for major infrastructure programs aligned with Saudi Arabia's development agenda.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure and masterplan development projects throughout Saudi Arabia.
• Provide strategic leadership across the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and close-out.
• Establish project execution strategies, governance frameworks, delivery plans, and performance objectives.
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and quality standards.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams covering engineering, project management, commercial, planning, and specialist disciplines.
• Act as the primary client interface and trusted advisor for key projects and accounts, developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Assume overall responsibility for project financial performance, overseeing budgets, resource planning, forecasting, and profitability.
• Provide technical oversight and strategic direction, ensuring engineering solutions meet client requirements and industry best practices.
• Ensure projects comply with contractual, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements, leading risk management activities.
• Support strategic growth initiatives within the Transport & Infrastructure business, participating in bids and business development.
• Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive experience (+10 years) working with leading international engineering consultancies.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure and masterplan development projects within Saudi Arabia.
• Strong technical engineering background, preferably in Civil Engineering.
• Demonstrated capabilities in project leadership, commercial management, stakeholder engagement, and client relationship management.

Technical Leadership

• Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for major infrastructure and masterplan development projects.
• Ensure engineering solutions adhere to client requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
• Review and approve critical project deliverables and technical outputs.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination to achieve integrated and efficient project delivery.
• Champion innovation, value engineering, sustainability, and technical excellence.
• Promote high standards of quality, safety, and engineering governance.

Commercial and Financial Management

• Manage overall project financial performance and commercial success.
• Oversee budgets, resource planning, forecasting, profitability, and project controls.
• Support contract negotiations and contribute to commercial strategy and decision-making.
• Monitor project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Manage change control processes, variations, and commercial issues throughout project delivery.
