Project Director (Mega Civil Project)

About the Opportunity

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is seeking a highly skilled Project Director to join its Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is situated within the Infrastructure Division and focuses on significant Civil Engineering and Transportation projects.

Role Overview

The Project Director will lead multi-disciplined teams on large-scale civil projects, specifically those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. The primary objective is to provide comprehensive direction and management across all project phases, ensuring timely completion within budget and adherence to contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor project teams, providing guidance and direction to ensure efficient project execution and adherence to timelines.
• Oversee and monitor contractor and sub-contractor activities to ensure successful delivery as per contractual requirements, specifications, and timelines.
• Manage day-to-day on-site construction operations, advising on technical, logistical, and administrative issues for seamless project delivery.
• Conduct periodic meetings with contractors' planning teams to ensure successful delivery in synergy with other program assets.
• Develop and execute project plans aligned with Client objectives, ensuring clarity in project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Maintain rigorous quality standards, overseeing the implementation of best practices and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement processes to optimize project efficiency while controlling costs.
• Identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
• Manage Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs in coordination with the Client to ensure worker safety and compliance with construction requirements.
• Develop weekly and monthly progress reports, including progress made in each key area, analysis of progress against the overall program, explanation of delay causes, analysis of KPIs, and assessment of quality issues, to provide the Client with a clear view of progress.

Candidate Profile and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess over 20 years of total professional experience, with a minimum of 12 years specifically as a Project Director or Project Manager. This experience should primarily be gained in a consulting capacity; candidates with exclusive contractor experience will not be considered. Demonstrated experience in at least one or more significant ROADS projects is mandatory.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in at least one major ROADS project.
• Willingness to work within a multinational firm environment.
• Ability to obtain a transferable Iqama for non-Saudi candidates.
• Currently based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
• Possession of a valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership.
