Role Overview
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Project Manager – Capability to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time role requires over 10 years of experience and is responsible for defining, planning, managing, and delivering projects that meet both customer and business requirements. The Project Manager will provide expert leadership to functional areas, ensuring the total capability delivered is fit for purpose, and will manage all aspects of project design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover to agreed cost, time, and quality standards.
Core Project Management Responsibilities
- Define all project aspects to ensure customer requirements are achieved in accordance with business, commercial criteria, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain project plans and budgets consistent with overall programme needs, agreeing and communicating specific deadlines and milestones.
- Manage, control, and monitor project delivery against agreed time, cost, and quality requirements, including regular progress reviews, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Ensure project adherence to all policies and procedures, focusing on risk minimisation and opportunity maximisation.
- Manage relationships with major suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure contract delivery and effective issue resolution.
- Conduct post-project appraisals and facilitate "lessons learned" dissemination across business teams.
Leadership and Capability Development
- Ensure the project team possesses required resources and capabilities, and that staff are led, developed, and motivated.
- Liaise with relevant functions to build an integrated project team and achieve project objectives.
- Lead the project by ensuring technical support through direct and indirect management of the team (both in the UK and KSA).
- Manage interfaces between several sub-contractors, particularly in the Prime Contractorship role, considering In Country Industrial Participation.
- Ensure project support capability insertion through In-Kingdom Industrial Participation as a key customer requirement.
- Develop and ensure the solution is acceptable to the Prime Contractor (PC), UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Authorities, the Customer, and KSA industry.
- Ensure Industrial Participation is consistent and integrated with the overall KSA In-Kingdom Industrial Participation (IKIP) strategy where appropriate.
Governance and Executive Engagement
- Hold BAE Systems Saudi Arabia delegated Project Management Governance and ensure compliance with the BAE Operational Framework and PM functional processes, including Life Cycle Management (LCM).
- Oversee all project activities to ensure professional integrity.
- Undertake all relevant training and development required of the KSA Executive population.
- Understand the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) and its impact on business objectives across remits.
- Engage at an executive level with customers and other stakeholders to understand and exceed requirements and expected service levels.
- Understand the BAE Systems organisation, taking full accountability for your remit and operating with the requirements of the wider organisation at heart.
- Subscribe to and participate in the Executive Performance Development Review (PDR) process.
- Display and set an example of the behaviours expected of Executive level employees, and be willing to challenge people inside and outside the organisation to act consistently with ethical business practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Significant understanding of the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia business, or an ability to develop this quickly.
- Significant political and cultural awareness in areas relating to BAE SYSTEMS business.
- Expert networking and communication skills, demonstrated at a senior level with governments, customers, suppliers, partners, and sub-contractors.
- Responsibility in all aspects of the Risk Management process.
- A well-rounded background of the BAE Systems Operational Framework and an understanding of the LCM processes.
- High-level problem-solving and financial control skills.
- Substantial understanding of commercial, financial, and project leadership.
- Expertise in project review and control, including the use of Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
