About the Role

Wareef is seeking a Risk & Compliance Expert to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves developing and implementing robust risk management and compliance frameworks to ensure the organization operates within established guidelines and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in risk and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, including defining risk appetite and acceptable tolerance levels.
  • Create and maintain a detailed Risk Register, encompassing risk identification, likelihood analysis, impact assessment, and the development of mitigation plans.
  • Monitor the organization's adherence to internal policies, government regulations, and external legislation, identifying any compliance gaps.
  • Establish and enhance effective internal controls to prevent operational errors or breaches, ensuring their implementation across all procedures.
  • Prepare regular risk reports for senior management and the risk committee, detailing current and emerging risks and progress on mitigation plans.
  • Lead root cause analysis for compliance breaches or risk realization, developing recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness among employees through workshops and ongoing guidance.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and predictive capabilities to analyze data and patterns for forecasting future risks.
  • In-depth expertise in risk methodologies, including international standards such as ISO 31000 for risk management or the COSO framework for internal controls.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in monitoring to ensure no gaps in regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills to advocate for control measures across departments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Law, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in risk management and compliance, preferably within complex regulatory environments such as government entities, banks, or major consulting firms.
  • Professional certifications such as CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) or CRM (Certified Risk Manager) are highly preferred.
