Safety Officer

About the Role

Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic Works Co. (SSEM) is seeking a Safety Officer to manage HSE requirements and ensure compliance across its project sites in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires an experienced professional to maintain high safety standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily work site inspections and implement corrective actions for unsafe methods and conditions.
• Initiate immediate work stoppage when unsafe acts or conditions are observed.
• Perform Toolbox Talks (TBT) and maintain comprehensive records of all daily and weekly safety meetings.
• Review the work permit system prior to task commencement.
• Monitor the correct deployment and timely removal of safety barriers, ensuring visible signage in risk areas.
• Maintain inspection and testing records for equipment and tools, and execute tool color coding procedures.
• Participate in daily and weekly safety audits, ensuring that reported unsafe acts and conditions are rectified.
• Maintain a safety discrepancy logbook for each work area.
• Issue daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports (covering incidents, hazards, near misses, manpower, and man-hours) to the Client Safety Representative.
• Assist the Site Safety Supervisor in employee training initiatives.
• Adhere to the client’s required safety officer ratio of 1:50.
• Report directly to the Site Safety Manager, Engineer, or Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Diploma or higher educational qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant safety role.
• Possession of HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA 30 Hours.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the construction industry.
• Previous client approvals (*, SEC, SWA, RC, Marafiq, GACA, Aramco) are considered an advantage.

Required Skills

• Strong communication and monitoring skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
