The Opportunity

WSP Middle East is seeking a Senior Cost Control Engineer to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position is central to ensuring effective cost management and control across various infrastructure projects, encompassing roads, bridges, highways, and tunnels. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of project cost dynamics combined with extensive site supervision experience in a consulting capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of project cost management, including budget estimation, cost forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
  • Develop comprehensive project budgets based on detailed analysis of project scope, specifications, and requirements.
  • Implement robust cost control mechanisms to monitor project expenditures, identify variances, and apply corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, cost analyses, and variance reports for project stakeholders and management.
  • Collaborate with project teams to review contracts, change orders, and other contractual documents to ensure alignment with project cost objectives.
  • Identify potential risks and cost implications associated with project activities, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial impacts.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to address cost-related issues and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, policies, and procedures related to cost management and control activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost control processes, tools, and methodologies, based on industry best practices and lessons learned.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the cost control team, fostering their professional development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in cost control and project management, with a specific focus on infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, highways, tunnels).
  • Proven track record of successful cost management and control on large-scale infrastructure projects, with preference for experience in the Middle East region.
  • Extensive experience in site supervision and construction management within a consulting environment.
