Senior Design Instrumentation and Control Engineer Ref MTYSHQ

About the Role

Tractebel is seeking a Senior Design Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to the preparation of specifications, coordination of design reviews, and management of design works with contractors and consultants. The position also requires effective internal coordination with other engineering disciplines on large Thermal Power Projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer will be responsible for a comprehensive range of design and engineering activities, including:

• Preparing detailed specifications for instrumentation and control systems.
• Coordinating design reviews and managing design works with external contractors and consultants.
• Ensuring internal coordination and alignment with other engineering disciplines.
• Conducting design and engineering reviews of EPC-submitted documents related to Instrumentation and Control.
• Reviewing Master Documents List (MDL), design criteria, P&IDs, and General Arrangement/Layouts.
• Evaluating design calculations, studies, and verifying their accuracy.
• Reviewing CFD modeling and operational manuals.
• Attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) when required, and reviewing FAT procedures and reports.
• Reviewing construction, commissioning, reliability, and performance test procedures and reports.
• Assessing Method Statements for construction and installation activities.
• Conducting vendor materials procurement reviews and evaluating proposed vendor/supplier designs and drawings.
• Managing design and field changes as necessary.
• Reviewing as-built drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Evaluating studies, Hazop/Hazid/SIL analyses, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
• Reviewing IFC/AFC/AFI drawings, red markups, and final as-built drawings.
• Assessing claims and change orders.
• Preparing close-out reports for LSTK Steam Power Plant Gas Conversion Projects.
• Managing all design review scope and activities for base and detailed engineering submittals, drawings, and documents.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should meet the following requirements:

• A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation and Control, approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
• A minimum of 10 years of related experience specifically in large Thermal Power Projects.

Essential Skills

The successful candidate will possess a strong technical foundation and professional competencies, including:

• Thorough knowledge of relevant International Standards.
• Proficiency in relevant design software.
• Well-versed in MS Office applications and familiar with Management Information Systems (MIS).
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities.

Work Location and Reporting Structure

This position is based at the design office located at the project site in Riyadh PP #10/PP#14 Combined Cycle Power Plant, approximately sixty (60) km from the Riyadh AlKharaj Road in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer will report directly to the Project Manager.
