About the Role

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Senior Medical Affairs Manager, Rare Disease, to join the team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves leading the scientific engagement strategy for rare diseases, focusing on communicating, educating, and collaborating with the medical community to improve patient outcomes. The position requires 0-1 years of experience.

Role Context and Impact

The Senior Medical Affairs Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end Medical Affairs strategy within the rare disease therapy area. This includes working across clinical development phases and translating scientific knowledge into practical actions. The role contributes to bringing treatments to patients with rare diseases globally, including underserved communities.

Department Overview

This position is part of International Operations, Novo Nordisk's largest operational unit, which covers 194 countries. The Medical Affairs Rare Disease team within International Operations focuses on engaging the scientific and medical community in complex and underserved therapy areas. The Senior Medical Affairs Manager will report to the Affiliate Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and scientific communication plan across all clinical development phases for rare disease.
  • Establish and maintain scientifically balanced relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and external experts in the rare disease field.
  • Drive Advisory Boards and insight-generation activities to integrate the patient voice into Medical Affairs strategies and decision-making.
  • Develop and execute the publication strategy, including Real-World Evidence publications, to advance the scientific narrative.
  • Lead medical education initiatives for Healthcare Professionals through scientific meetings, congresses, symposia, and other channels.
  • Build strategic relationships with International Professional Associations at global and national levels to strengthen scientific presence.
  • Serve as a medical partner to Commercial, Research, Regulatory, and other cross-functional stakeholders, providing internal medical guidance, scientific training, and support for organizational decision-making.
