About the Role
Parsons Corporation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Supply Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to major railway electrification projects, leveraging extensive technical expertise in power systems.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Senior Power Supply Engineer will be responsible for the management and successful delivery of railway electrification works, specifically focusing on Traction Power Supply Systems (TPSS). This role requires ensuring all activities adhere to approved drawings, specifications, project procedures, and applicable standards. The engineer will provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project teams, leading electrical engineering activities from requirements analysis through to final commissioning.
- Manage TPSS construction activities and railway electrification works.
- Ensure execution aligns with approved documentation and standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Lead electrical engineering activities including design, simulation, and component selection.
- Develop engineering calculations, technical models, and design solutions for power supply systems.
- Prepare power system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systems.
- Perform computer simulations for load flow, short-circuit, motor-starting, and protection coordination.
- Conduct site investigations and inspections of substations and traction power facilities.
- Prepare technical proposals, engineering reports, and cost estimates.
- Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of traction power and electrical equipment.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to stakeholders.
- Review project documentation, including design packages and O&M manuals.
- Design and review power supply assemblies for compliance and performance.
- Verify designs meet technical, safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
- Develop solutions for production, reliability, and operational challenges.
- Facilitate technical design reviews with various stakeholders.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification of power systems.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required. Proven experience in delivering traction power and railway electrification systems on major infrastructure projects is essential. The role demands a strong understanding of high and low voltage power systems within railway networks, including national and international standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Power Supply System Engineering.
- Experience in Traction Power Supply System Engineering, preferably on metro, railway, or high-speed rail projects.
- Proven experience delivering traction power and railway electrification systems on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV power systems for railway networks.
- Comprehensive understanding of railway power system standards.
- Experience in the design and implementation of AC and DC traction power systems.
- Experience with 600V/750V DC traction power substations and 25kV railway electrification systems.
- Knowledge of frequency converters, stray current mitigation, and wayside cable infrastructure.
- Experience with circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLC, and railway protection systems.
- Understanding of overhead catenary systems and third-rail electrification systems.
- Experience conducting load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
Technical Skills and Capabilities
The role requires a strong technical foundation in power systems engineering, with specific experience in railway applications. This includes the ability to perform detailed engineering calculations, develop technical models, and conduct complex simulations. Proficiency in preparing technical documentation and reports is also critical.
