The Role

The Senior Specialist, Data Base & Data Mart is a full-time position based in Riyadh, responsible for enabling trusted, scalable, and high-performance data foundations across Ma'aden. This role is crucial for supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, AI initiatives, and business decision-making. It ensures that enterprise data assets are structured, governed, and optimized to deliver reliable insights that improve operational and strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver scalable and high-performing database and data mart solutions that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.
  • Translate business and analytical requirements into logical and physical data models, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Enable reliable delivery of enterprise data through robust ETL/ELT processes, transformation logic, and data integration practices.
  • Optimize database and data mart performance through tuning, workload analysis, indexing, and capacity management.
  • Embed data quality, lineage, metadata, ownership, retention, and governance requirements within enterprise data solutions.
  • Ensure data assets remain secure, auditable, and compliant with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, governance, architecture, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver prioritized data capabilities.
  • Drive the adoption of modern database, cloud, automation, and observability practices that enhance value and efficiency.

Required Experience and Capabilities

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in database and data mart management. The position requires strong technical leadership and engineering excellence, with expertise in data architecture, database optimization, and lifecycle management. The ability to translate complex business and analytical requirements into robust database and data mart solutions is essential. A solid understanding of enterprise standards for data accessibility, quality, performance, and governance is also required.

Impact and Performance Indicators

Success in this role is demonstrated by enterprise databases and data marts consistently delivering reliable, accurate, and timely data for analytics and business reporting. Key indicators include improved data performance, availability, and scalability through proactive optimization and engineering best practices. The role ensures that data governance requirements, including lineage, metadata, ownership, and quality controls, are embedded across solutions, leading to effective resolution of production incidents and reduced recurrence. Ultimately, the position aims to increase stakeholder confidence in the quality, accessibility, and reliability of enterprise data assets, while modern data engineering practices improve delivery efficiency and long-term platform sustainability.
