About the Role

DXC Technology is seeking a skilled SQL & Oracle DB Engineer for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and focuses on the advanced administration and optimization of critical database systems.

Core Responsibilities

The SQL & Oracle DB Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive management of Oracle and MS SQL database systems. This includes overseeing the entire lifecycle, ensuring automation, and maintaining disaster recovery readiness for environments supporting essential services. The role involves acting as a subject matter expert for various database technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

  • Performing database backup and restore functions, including scheduled disaster recovery availability tests.
  • Implementing and managing MS SQL restoration and availability technologies such as Clustering, Replication, and Always-On.
  • Conducting performance tuning for MS SQL production databases.
  • Participating in SQL code reviews for application teams to ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Building and reporting on SQL environment performance and availability metrics, implementing best practices for optimization.
  • Assisting in the technical analysis and design for current and future projects.
  • Writing SQL scripts for efficient data extraction.
  • Installing database software on servers as required.
  • Monitoring databases for performance and issues using designated tools.
  • Ensuring all database servers meet defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Architecting and maintaining Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup/restore strategies.
  • Leading performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution for Oracle environments.
  • Managing the Oracle database lifecycle, including provisioning, migration, and upgrades.
  • Ensuring high availability and replication readiness across data centers.
  • Implementing automation for routine tasks using Ansible or PL/SQL scripting.
  • Ensuring compliance with NCA and NDMO, secure data handling, and auditing procedures.
  • Mentoring L2 Oracle engineers and interfacing with solution architects.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience is required, with at least 2 years in a similar role. Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and OEM are essential. Expertise in SQL optimization and schema tuning, along with experience in hybrid cloud database setups, is necessary. Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible or Terraform is also required. A strong understanding of industry-standard database management practices and methodologies is fundamental.

Preferred Qualifications

An advanced degree in a relevant field is considered a plus. Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or other database administration certifications are advantageous.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh.
