Role Overview

Medtronic is seeking a Sr. Principal Legal Counsel GCC (excl. UAE) to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves providing strategic legal guidance and daily support to the organization, primarily for the Saudi Arabia and overall GCC business. The role focuses on commercial operations, strategic initiatives, and complex projects, partnering with business leaders to support growth, manage legal risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Legal Director for the TUMECA region.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide commercially oriented operational legal support and strategic guidance to management, business units, and functions in the GCC region with a high degree of independence.
• Advise on matters including commercial, competition, employment, public procurement, regulatory, data protection, product liability, and disputes.
• Counsel business clients practically and strategically on legal issues related to business operations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements, such as sales, distribution, service, supply, confidentiality, and collaboration agreements.
• Offer operational support for daily local activities, including assistance to various functions like HR, Pricing, and Regulatory.
• Oversee and support the consistent implementation of strategic legal projects at the local level.
• Support the EurAsia Legal team on new processes and projects to ensure local implementation and effective incorporation of legal requirements into local commercial and business activities.
• Ensure compliance with local legislation.
• Prepare and conduct meetings and training sessions for employees on Medtronic policies and procedures.
• Participate in and share best practices with the EurAsia Legal team.
• Effectively manage relationships with outside counsel to maximize quality of representation and minimize legal expenses.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant legal experience.
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, risk-based legal guidance on complex commercial and strategic matters.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in the GCC region.

Work Environment

This position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment. While primarily office-based, occasional travel within the broader region may be required to support business needs and foster stakeholder relationships.
