About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH) in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse I to join its team. This full-time position is central to delivering high-quality, comprehensive nursing care, utilizing established nursing processes and performance standards. The role also involves demonstrating leadership competencies when acting as a shift resource or team leader.

Role Summary

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for providing patient care in accordance with core standards, established policies, and evidence-based practices. This includes accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, alongside discharge planning. The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve continuous improvement in patient care quality and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide total patient care as assigned, adhering to core standards of patient care and established policies.
  • Assume accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, as well as discharge planning for each patient.
  • Contribute to decreasing the length of stay/waiting time as per unit-specific goals.
  • Work in collaboration with Case Management to achieve patient care goals.
  • Document all relevant information correctly, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment failures, safety and security issues, and/or reduction of supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and families.
  • Identify ideas that will improve the quality of patient care and issues that will negatively affect patient care outcomes.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Demonstrate collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships working towards constant improvement in quality patient care.
  • Lead unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Participate in new staff/nursing student orientation aimed at developing competence and performance.
  • Assist in maintaining a suitable learning environment and act as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of nursing students and new staff.
  • Demonstrate transcultural principles in nursing practice.
  • Contribute to special projects/assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and professional practice model as assigned.
  • Assist in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in self and other’s education, training, and development, as applicable.

Safety and Operational Compliance

  • Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the head nurse or designee.
  • Comply with policies for personal and patient safety and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contribute to the achievement of cost efficiency savings on the unit.
  • Maintain awareness of resource utilization, exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment, and materials.
  • Contribute to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction.
  • Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure from country of origin is required.
  • Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure is required.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, OR four (4) years of nursing experience with an Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
