About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Staff Nurse I to provide comprehensive nursing care. This full-time role involves utilizing the nursing process to meet established standards of nursing practice and performance, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The position is suitable for professionals with 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for a range of duties that ensure optimal patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing total patient care as assigned, adhering to core standards of patient care and established policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Assuming accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, as well as discharge planning for each patient.
  • Contributing to decreasing the length of stay/waiting time as per unit-specific goals, working in collaboration with Case Management.
  • Documenting all relevant information correctly, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Reporting equipment failures, safety and security issues, and/or reduction of supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Contributing to the achievement of cost efficiency savings on the unit, maintaining awareness of resource utilization, and exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment, and materials.
  • Leading unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.

Patient Care and Safety

A core aspect of this role is ensuring patient well-being and a safe care environment. This involves:

  • Acting as an advocate for patients and families, identifying ideas that improve patient care quality and issues that negatively affect patient care outcomes, using the professional practice framework.
  • Promoting a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Complying with policies for personal and patient safety and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contributing to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrating transcultural principles in nursing practice.

Professional Development and Collaboration

The Staff Nurse I engages in collaborative efforts and continuous professional growth within the hospital setting. This includes:

  • Demonstrating collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships, working towards constant improvement in quality patient care.
  • Participating in new staff/nursing student orientation aimed at developing competence and performance.
  • Assisting in maintaining a suitable learning environment and acting as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of nursing students and new staff to develop their competence.
  • Contributing to special projects/assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and the professional practice model as assigned.
  • Assisting in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Participating in self and others' education, training, and development, as applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Staff Nurse I position should possess the following:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in nursing.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive nursing care and utilize the nursing process effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies when in charge or acting as a shift resource/team leader.

This full-time position is based at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh. The role operates within a dynamic healthcare setting that emphasizes adherence to all Hospital related policies and procedures to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
