The Role of Structural Engineer

Parsons is seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on supervising and monitoring civil and structural works on high-rise projects. The role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering and construction supervision, ensuring compliance with project standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily site activities related to civil and structural works, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and project procedures.
• Monitor construction works including reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, façade interfaces, architectural finishes, and related building elements on high-rise projects.
• Review contractor works on site to ensure activities are carried out in accordance with approved method statements, inspection requests, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, subcontractors, and other disciplines to ensure proper sequencing and integration of works.
• Inspect workmanship and site progress, identify defects, non-conformances, and incomplete works, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure construction activities align with the approved project schedule and report delays, constraints, or technical concerns to the Resident Engineer or Construction Manager.
• Witness inspections and testing activities related to structural and architectural works and verify compliance with project and authority requirements.
• Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
• Maintain daily supervision records, site observation reports, progress updates, snag lists, and follow-up reports.
• Support in resolving site issues and escalate technical matters to the relevant engineers where required.
• Participate in coordination meetings, toolbox talks, site walks, and progress review sessions as needed.
• Ensure all works comply with local authority requirements, project specifications, and Parsons supervision procedures.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on construction supervision for civil and structural works.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and monitor various construction elements, including reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, and architectural finishes.
• Proficiency in reviewing contractor documentation, method statements, and inspection requests.
• Strong understanding of project specifications, quality standards, and local authority requirements.
• Experience in identifying and resolving site issues, defects, and non-conformances.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance on construction sites.

Work Location

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring on-site presence to oversee project activities.
