Systems Manager – Avionics
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor for providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Systems Manager – Avionics. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, is crucial for supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Engineering Authority (EA) Section Manager and enhancing the RSAF EA’s indigenous capability.
Role Context and Strategic Impact
The Systems Manager – Avionics will provide functional assistance and guidance to the RSAF in developing and exploiting its Engineering Authority capability. This involves daily interaction with senior RSAF personnel within the Department of Aeronautical Engineering (DoAE) to support all avionic system integration. The role requires flexibility to support RSAF bases across the Kingdom, RSAF HQ, and other locations as directed. This position also contributes significantly to BAE Systems Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through training and industrialisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of and share BAE Systems Saudi Arabia engineering best practices with the RSAF Directorate of Aeronautical Engineering.
- Provide functional guidance and support to the RSAF EA in developing an indigenous capability for managing changes to air-systems and their supporting MPOL.
- Assist the RSAF EA in the definition, planning, and review of qualification and certification activities for RSAF avionic system service modifications.
- Provide functional guidance to the RSAF EA in developing Hazard Analysis and Safety Cases prior to undertaking any activity.
- Support the RSAF EA in identifying and developing supporting evidence required for achieving confidence levels for system changes.
- Assist the RSAF EA with system safety-related incident/accident investigations and provide recommendations on defect and incident reports for BAE Systems platforms.
- Maintain working relationships with other RSAF Directorates, BAE Systems Saudi Arabia deployed engineering resources, Platform project teams, MODSAP, and BAE Systems Business Units.
- Support the RSAF in generating system integration plans and procedures for changes to existing systems to improve safety, reliability, maintainability, or performance.
- Provide functional assistance in the development of system trials, integration, and testing procedures and documentation to verify performance.
- Assist in the acceptance testing of aircraft avionic systems and equipment modifications/upgrades.
- Offer functional support to RSAF Officers during meetings.
Professional Development and Mentorship
A significant contribution to the development of Saudi National engineers is required. This includes the professional mentoring of a Saudi National GG5 professional engineer in accordance with an agreed Learning and Development plan. This mentorship is integral to the company’s strategy to develop Saudi National engineering capability, with the objective for the mentored engineer to ultimately replace the EE executive manager as part of agreed BAE Systems Saudisation plans.
