Technical Lead Mobile & Cloud Applications

About the Role

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to manage a mobile application ecosystem and oversee technical delivery across mobile, backend, and cloud architecture. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on technical leadership rather than solely mobile development, involving close collaboration with backend, cloud, and architecture functions, with a particular emphasis on BFF architecture, Java Spring Boot, and cloud migration from AWS to Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for mobile application development, backend integration, and cloud architecture.
• Lead and mentor mobile engineers across iOS and Android environments.
• Drive technical decisions regarding application architecture, scalability, integration, and engineering standards.
• Support the migration of application services and backend components from AWS to Microsoft Azure.
• Work with and support Backend For Frontend (BFF) architecture serving mobile applications.
• Collaborate with backend teams utilizing Java and Spring Boot.
• Ensure effective integration between mobile applications, APIs, backend services, and cloud platforms.
• Contribute to architecture reviews and technical design decisions across the wider application ecosystem.
• Support CI/CD, release management, and production-readiness activities.
• Identify and resolve technical issues across mobile, backend, and cloud layers.
• Work closely with product, architecture, DevOps, backend, and platform teams.
• Promote strong engineering practices including code reviews, maintainability, performance, and security.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Mobile Architect, Solution Architect, or similar role.
• Strong background in mobile application engineering, with experience across iOS and/or Android.
• Good understanding of Swift, Kotlin, or other modern mobile technologies.
• Experience leading and mentoring software engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Backend For Frontend (BFF) architecture, APIs, and service integration.
• Practical experience with Java / Spring Boot environments.
• Strong cloud experience, ideally with Microsoft Azure, with AWS experience also highly relevant.
• Exposure to cloud migration, particularly moving workloads or services between AWS and Azure.
• Good understanding of microservices, API architecture, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work across multiple technical domains rather than focusing only on mobile development.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical decision-making skills.
• Comfortable working in an environment where the technology stack may continue to evolve.

Preferred Experience

• Previous ownership of a mobile ecosystem spanning frontend, BFF, and backend services.
• Experience modernizing or migrating cloud-based application platforms.
• Strong Azure architecture exposure.
• Experience leading distributed or cross-functional engineering teams.
• Background in high-scale consumer, automotive, mobility, or digital platforms.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, requiring collaboration with various technical teams including product, architecture, DevOps, backend, and platform teams. The role involves working in an evolving technology landscape.
