Traffic Signal & ITS Field Support Engineer

About the Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Traffic Signal & ITS Field Support Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position supports a major traffic management and Intelligent Transportation Systems program. The role involves developing and reviewing procedures, standards, and documentation for traffic signal and ITS field equipment, as well as providing technical support and quality oversight for field activities conducted by contractors and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

The Traffic Signal & ITS Field Support Engineer will work closely with the Traffic Control Center, project technical leads, field teams, contractors, and equipment suppliers. This ensures that field work is clearly specified, consistently executed, and verified against approved standards. The role requires willingness to attend sites across the project area to observe, review, and support field activities.

• Develop, review, and maintain procedures, method statements, maintenance and testing protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for traffic signal and ITS field equipment, including controllers, cabinets, vehicle detection, CCTV/ELV, communications, and power/backup systems.
• Review installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities for compliance with approved standards, designs, Requests for Construction (RFCs), and as-built documentation, identifying gaps or deviations for correction.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field and maintenance teams, assisting in resolving operational and integration issues without performing direct hands-on work.
• Review controller configurations, signal phasing and timing, detector settings, and controller parameters, supporting operational improvement and network performance monitoring.
• Review monitoring and performance data from central management and dashboard platforms to assess field performance, recurring faults, and maintenance effectiveness.
• Support the planning, coordination, and tracking of field activities and work orders, following up on outstanding items to closure and reporting on status and quality.
• Review contractor and supplier technical submittals, drawings, test records, and commissioning documentation.
• Prepare procedural documentation, technical reviews, and progress and quality reports, and contribute to standards and guideline development for the program.
• Coordinate with Traffic Control Center operators, contractors, consultants, and equipment suppliers on procedures, field issues, and operational readiness, supporting quality control and HSE compliance across field activities.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.

Experience and Qualifications

• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in traffic signal and ITS field support.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, supporting a major traffic management and Intelligent Transportation Systems program.
