Role Overview

As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will provide critical support to the Director of Engineering in managing all daily operations of the Engineering Department. This full-time role, based in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, involves ensuring the effective functioning of the hotel’s infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems. Your responsibilities are central to maintaining operational excellence, ensuring guest comfort and safety, and leading an efficient engineering team focused on sustainable and preventive maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations and ensure timely response to engineering requests.
  • Monitor energy usage and utility consumption, supporting sustainability and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure all fire, health, and safety regulations are met and maintained across the property.
  • Participate in the development of long-term maintenance strategies and capital expenditure planning.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of all plant, machinery, and public areas.
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance activities are completed efficiently and documented appropriately.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors to ensure quality and timely service delivery.

Team Leadership and Technical Oversight

  • Supervise a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring adherence to operational standards and procedures.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts in alignment with departmental needs.
  • Lead regular briefings and training for the engineering team to ensure technical excellence and safety compliance.
  • Evaluate performance and provide coaching and feedback to engineering team members.
  • Serve as Acting Director of Engineering in their absence.

Administrative and Project Management

  • Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, maintenance records, and budget tracking documents.
  • Assist in budget planning, cost control, and expense forecasting.
  • Ensure all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists are updated and adhered to.
  • Support compliance with all legal and safety standards, permits, and insurance requirements.
  • Contribute to engineering-related projects, renovations, and installations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support the operational readiness and success of guest services.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and assist with vendor selection for new systems or replacements.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience in engineering management, preferably within the hospitality sector. This role requires a professional committed to operational brilliance, guest service, and sustainable practices, capable of leading a team and managing complex infrastructure systems in a dynamic environment.
