About NEOM Green Hydrogen Company and The Project
NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is a joint venture between NEOM, Air Products, and ACWA Power, established to develop a significant green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility. This $ billion project, located in Oxagon, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, integrates renewable solar, wind, and storage power. The facility is scheduled to be operational in 2026, marking a key milestone in sustainable energy production.
Role Overview: EPMS Supervisor
The EPMS Supervisor (Electrical Power Management System) is a full-time position responsible for overseeing control operations and the work performed by other control room personnel. This role is accountable for the operation of utility assets, including power plants, transmission lines, distribution systems, substations, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The Supervisor directs electric system operations engineering by monitoring, planning, analyzing, directing, and executing 24/7 grid operations to ensure safe and reliable electric service, prevent power outages, and manage renewable energy integration. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day grid operations activities, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time monitoring of energy generation and consumption.
- Implement and oversee operational procedures to ensure grid stability, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Analyze grid performance data and develop strategies to optimize grid operations efficiency.
- Develop and implement strategies for integrating renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.
- Optimize renewable energy dispatch and curtailment strategies while maintaining grid stability.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate with stakeholders during grid emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory obligations, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Supervise operational EPMS Dispatchers/Schedulers and monitor their performance.
Grid Operations and Renewable Energy Integration
The EPMS Supervisor is central to managing the electrical grid, ensuring its stability and reliability. This involves the supervision and coordination of daily grid operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time monitoring of energy generation and consumption. A critical aspect of the role is the development and implementation of strategies for integrating diverse renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power. The Supervisor will coordinate with renewable energy developers, transmission operators, and regulatory agencies to optimize renewable energy dispatch and curtailment strategies, all while upholding grid stability.
Emergency Preparedness and Compliance
This position requires the development and maintenance of robust emergency response plans, coordinating effectively with stakeholders during grid emergencies. The Supervisor will conduct training exercises and drills to enhance preparedness across operational teams. Furthermore, the role involves staying informed about industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance with all obligations, and preparing and submitting necessary regulatory reports and operational data.
Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
The EPMS Supervisor provides leadership and support for staff development, including supervising operational EPMS Dispatchers/Schedulers and monitoring their performance. This includes developing and reviewing standard operating procedures and conducting training plans for operational teams. The role also involves significant stakeholder collaboration and communication, requiring the ability to communicate updates on grid operations and renewable energy integration, and to represent the organization in industry forums and working groups.
