The Role: Kitchen and Laundry Technician

Red Sea Global Hospitality is seeking a Kitchen and Laundry Technician to join its full-time team in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of kitchen and laundry equipment throughout the property. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, thereby supporting the seamless operations of the hotel's culinary, food and beverage, housekeeping, and laundry departments. You will work in close collaboration with the Kitchen & Laundry Technical Supervisor and operational teams to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment breakdowns, and maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of kitchen and laundry equipment, including ovens, cooking equipment, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, and dryers.
• Inspect equipment regularly to identify signs of wear, damage, malfunction, or potential breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, gas, water, and other technical faults in kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Carry out repairs and replace defective components, parts, and fittings as required and within approved procedures.
• Assist with the installation, testing, commissioning, and adjustment of new kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubricating, tightening, adjusting, and calibrating equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently, reporting any major faults or recurring issues to the Kitchen & Laundry Technical Supervisor.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests to minimize disruption to operations.
• Conduct functional tests after repairs or maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
• Maintain accurate records of completed preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and replacement of spare parts.
• Follow approved preventive maintenance schedules and ensure assigned work orders are completed within the required timeframe.
• Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials, reporting when replacements are required.
• Use tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment correctly and safely.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with property standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Follow proper safety procedures when working with electrical, gas, water, refrigeration, and other technical systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in work areas, ensuring maintenance activities do not compromise food safety or hygiene standards.
• Coordinate with operational colleagues when carrying out maintenance work to minimize disruption to daily operations.
• Provide basic technical guidance to operational colleagues on the safe and proper use of kitchen and laundry equipment when required.
• Assist the Technical Supervisor with equipment inspections, testing, and calibration.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance, communicating recommendations to the Technical Supervisor.
• Ensure defective equipment is safely isolated and clearly identified when it cannot be used until repaired.
• Properly handle and dispose of used parts, waste materials, oils, and other maintenance-related materials in accordance with environmental and safety procedures.
• Keep up to date with the operation and maintenance requirements of new kitchen and laundry equipment and technologies.
• Perform any other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the Engineering Department and support business needs.
• Maintain documentation and records, ensuring compliance with HACCP audit requirements and engineering operational standards.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, gas, and water systems relevant to the equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks independently and effectively.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and environmental regulations applicable to maintenance work.
