Architectural Engineer

About the Role

Aviagen is seeking an Architectural Engineer for a full-time, site-based position in Al Jawf. This role involves the review, coordination, and supervision of all architectural aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, design intent, quality standards, operational needs, and applicable regulations. The Architectural Engineer will act on behalf of the Owner, providing technical oversight throughout the design, procurement, construction, testing, and handover phases to ensure architectural works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, project objectives, and contractual requirements. The position requires 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural designs, construction drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and method statements.
• Approve architectural material selections, finishes, façade systems, waterproofing systems, doors, windows, ceilings, partitions, and specialized building components.
• Provide technical recommendations to enhance functionality, constructability, maintainability, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support design reviews and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
• Supervise architectural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Monitor construction activities for proper implementation of architectural designs and finishes.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate all building systems effectively.

Quality Control and Inspection

• Track, review, and approve the full inspection cycle, including vendor, subcontractor, material, and testing-laboratory approvals.
• Verify materials upon delivery and conduct stage-by-stage inspection and acceptance of works.
• Participate in testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and final handover processes.
• Support quantity verification, progress measurement, and payment certification.
• Engage in inspections, snagging activities, punch list reviews, and final handover.
• Ensure adherence to quality control requirements for architectural works.

Coordination and Project Management Support

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and site teams on all architectural matters.
• Support procurement activities through technical review of architectural materials, systems, and suppliers.
• Monitor project progress related to architectural activities, identifying risks, delays, or technical issues requiring corrective action.
• Prepare technical reports, site observations, progress reviews, and recommendations for project management and clients.

Work Environment and Collaboration

This site-based role involves close collaboration with GPP (Aviagen's design and construction supervision consultant), project managers, contractors, suppliers, and site supervision teams. The Architectural Engineer will supervise, coordinate, inspect, approve, resolve technical issues, monitor progress, manage interfaces between disciplines, and support successful project delivery. Compliance with health and safety requirements and site regulations is essential.
