About the Role

Jumeirah Jabal Omar Hotel is seeking a Commis 1 for the Staff Canteen. This is a full-time position requiring 0-1 years of experience in a similar role. The Commis 1 will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for the staff canteen, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and accurately execute orders from the Chef de Partie, following instructions and recommendations to meet daily requirements.
• Gather, measure, mix, and prepare meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings according to established recipes and specifications.
• Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and meats with precision, demonstrating proficiency in cutting, seasoning, and marinating as needed.
• Perform cooking techniques and plating according to specifications provided by the Demi Chef or Chef de Partie, ensuring high standards of dish preparation.
• Document inventory of kitchen supplies, monitor stock levels, and notify supervisors of low stock to maintain sufficient supplies.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as braising pans, ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers effectively, ensuring correct temperature settings for cooking and baking.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a culinary role, preferably within a hotel or staff canteen environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
• Proficiency in basic kitchen operations and equipment.
• Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
