The Commis Role

The Commis is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This full-time role involves maintaining food quality, managing inventory, and supporting kitchen operations during busy periods. Candidates should have 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare special meals or substitute items as required.
• Regulate temperatures of cooking equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Thaw food from freezer storage in the refrigerator.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of food.
• Maintain accurate food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
• Communicate staffing needs during peak periods and inform the Chef of excess food items for daily specials.
• Notify Food & Beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Prepare and cook cold food items.

Operational Duties and Compliance

• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, and motivation of employees, serving as a role model.
• Adhere to all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
• Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with others.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support team goals.
• Listen and respond appropriately to concerns from other employees.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
