The Geotechnical Engineer Role

As a Geotechnical Engineer at Ma'aden, you will contribute to geotechnical engineering activities within our mining operations. This full-time role involves supporting the management of ground conditions, hazards, and risks through field investigations, data collection and testing, and providing technical input for analysis and design.

Key Responsibilities: Field Investigation and Testing

• Conduct field investigations and surveys, including geological mapping, soil sampling, rock core logging, and groundwater monitoring, to assess ground conditions and identify hazards and risks.
• Perform in-situ and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples using specialized equipment and techniques to determine geotechnical properties and behavior.
• Maintain and calibrate geotechnical equipment and instrumentation to provide accurate and reliable monitoring data.

Key Responsibilities: Analysis and Engineering Support

• Analyze and interpret geotechnical data, including slope stability, rock mass characterization, and groundwater modeling, and contribute to design recommendations and risk assessments.
• Provide technical support for slope stability assessments, foundation design, mine waste management, ground control measures, and the development of mitigation solutions.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical documents, presentations, figures, charts, and diagrams to communicate findings and recommendations.

Collaboration, Safety, and Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, mining engineers, and environmental specialists to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine planning, design, and operations.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines in all geotechnical activities.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians, interns, and field assistants on geotechnical techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Maintain awareness of industry practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement of geotechnical processes and standards.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Geotechnical Engineer position should possess 2 to 5 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field.
