About Ma'aden and the Geotechnical Engineer Role

Ma’aden is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its team. This full-time position is designed for professionals with 0-1 years of experience, offering an opportunity to contribute to critical mining operations. The role involves supporting geotechnical engineering activities by managing ground conditions, hazards, and risks.

Role Purpose

The Geotechnical Engineer provides essential technical input to ensure the safety and stability of mining environments. This includes conducting thorough field investigations, meticulously collecting and testing geotechnical data, and actively contributing to analysis and design processes. The primary objective is to effectively manage ground conditions, identify potential hazards, and mitigate risks across various mining operations.

Field Investigations and Geotechnical Testing

The role requires hands-on involvement in assessing ground conditions and identifying potential risks. Key responsibilities in this area include:

  • Conducting field investigations and surveys, which encompass geological mapping, soil sampling, rock core logging, and groundwater monitoring.
  • Performing in-situ and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples using specialized equipment and techniques to determine their geotechnical properties and behavior.
  • Maintaining and calibrating geotechnical equipment and instrumentation to ensure the provision of accurate and reliable monitoring data.

Data Analysis and Technical Support

A significant aspect of this position involves the analysis of collected data and providing expert technical recommendations. Core duties include:

  • Analyzing and interpreting geotechnical data, including slope stability, rock mass characterization, and groundwater modeling, to inform design recommendations and risk assessments.
  • Providing technical support for critical areas such as slope stability assessments, foundation design, mine waste management, and ground control measures.
  • Contributing to the development of effective mitigation solutions for identified geotechnical challenges.

Reporting and Documentation

Clear and concise communication of findings is crucial for this role. The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for preparing comprehensive documentation to convey technical information effectively. This includes:

  • Preparing detailed geotechnical reports and other technical documents.
  • Developing presentations, figures, charts, and diagrams to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and practices. This role is suitable for individuals with 0 to 1 year of relevant professional experience, demonstrating a strong aptitude for technical analysis, field work, and effective communication within a dynamic mining environment.
