About Cohere and the North Platform
Cohere is a leading security-first enterprise AI company dedicated to building cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that address real-world business problems. The company focuses on training and deploying frontier models for enterprises developing AI systems, aiming to facilitate the widespread adoption of AI. Cohere operates as a global technology company with co-headquarters in Toronto and San Francisco, complemented by key offices in London, New York City, Montreal, Seoul, Germany, and Paris.
North is Cohere's AI workspace platform, specifically designed to revolutionize how enterprises utilize AI. It offers a secure and customizable environment, enabling companies to deploy AI while maintaining control over sensitive data. North integrates seamlessly with existing workflows, providing a trusted platform that connects AI agents with various workplace tools and applications.
The Role: Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Platform
Cohere is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Platform to join its team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role, suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience, offers an opportunity to shape how enterprises harness AI in real-world applications. The position acts as a bridge between Cohere's core North product and client engineering teams, focusing on solving complex problems and securely integrating AI into critical sectors such as finance, healthcare, and telecommunications.
The successful candidate will own the design, build, and deployment of agentic workflows powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), from early prototypes to production-grade AI agents. This involves delivering concrete business value in enterprise workflows by building first-of-their-kind agent workflows that integrate LLMs with tools, APIs, and data sources. Agents developed must meet enterprise standards for reliability, observability, safety, and auditability from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with enterprise customers to translate high-value, ambiguous business problems into well-framed agentic workflows with clear success criteria and evaluation methodologies.
- Lead the design, build, and delivery of LLM-powered agents that reason, plan, and act across tools, APIs, and sensitive enterprise data sources, ensuring enterprise-grade reliability and performance.
- Build and ship features for North, Cohere's AI workspace platform, working across the full product lifecycle from conceptualization through production.
- Take ownership of scoping and shaping use cases end-to-end, adapting to technical areas as required, including frontend development, to drive the most effective solution.
- Contribute to shared frameworks and patterns that enable consistent, high-quality delivery across customers and teams.
- Drive clarity in ambiguous situations, build alignment, and raise engineering quality across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade software in Python, demonstrating the ability to write clean, testable, observable, and scalable code.
- Experience building and deploying highly performant RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and agentic applications, including agents that plan and execute multi-step tasks using patterns such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
- Deep familiarity with the LLM stack, including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
- Proven ability to build robust evaluation frameworks, moving beyond trial and error, to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency.
- Experience working directly with customers and leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders, translating ambiguous business needs into concrete technical specifications.
- Experience owning the full scope of a use case end-to-end.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced and ambiguous environments, executing effectively even when priorities are shifting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience setting architectural standards for AI and agentic systems across distributed teams.
- Experience adapting to unfamiliar technical areas, such as frontend development, when the problem calls for it.
- Exposure to regulated or sensitive industry environments, including finance, healthcare, or telecommunications.
- Experience with enterprise security, compliance, or auditability requirements for AI systems.
Work Environment and Travel
This role operates in a fast-paced environment, maintaining high enterprise standards. The position requires anticipated travel between 20% and 40% to work on-site with customers and partners.
Requirements
- No experience required
