About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Project Director for a full-time, senior leadership role within its Property & Buildings business. This position will oversee the delivery of a major construction supervision project in a remote location, specifically in Al Ula and Medina, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience and focuses on ensuring project execution aligns with client objectives, program, budget, and quality standards.

Role Context and Objectives

The Project Director will serve as the client's trusted advisor on-site, providing strategic oversight and leadership throughout the construction and handover phases. This senior position is accountable for the overall project execution and performance, ensuring successful outcomes in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive leadership and direction for site-based project delivery, ensuring alignment with client objectives, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Act as the primary point of accountability for project execution, performance, and delivery outcomes on site.
• Lead the construction supervision phase, ensuring effective coordination among contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Oversee all site operations, ensuring works comply with approved designs, specifications, and standards.
• Manage and resolve interface issues across disciplines to ensure coordinated delivery.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation and recovery plans.
• Maintain oversight of project costs, variations, and change control processes.
• Ensure adherence to the project program, including schedule monitoring and reporting.
• Serve as the senior client interface on site, providing clear, timely, and accurate reporting.
• Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and third parties as required to support project delivery.
• Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and issue resolution at a senior level.
• Ensure full compliance with local regulations, codes, and authority requirements.
• Champion health, safety, quality, and environmental standards across all site activities.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the project team on site, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Oversee resource planning, team performance, and succession planning throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in delivering large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience in a Project Director or senior leadership role focused on construction supervision projects.
• Strong background in construction supervision, particularly on remote or challenging sites.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from construction through to handover.
• Extensive experience working on high-value or landmark developments.
• Strong commercial, contractual, and program management expertise.
• Proven ability to work effectively in remote site environments.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East is highly preferred.
