Senior Env Engineer

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for full-time employment. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, project-specific environmental requirements, and sustainability objectives during the construction and site supervision phases of large-scale building, convention center, hospitality, and mixed-use development projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Environmental Engineer will be responsible for monitoring environmental performance, supporting environmental risk management, and advising project teams on best practices to minimize environmental impacts. Specific duties include:

• Ensuring compliance with Saudi Arabian environmental regulations, municipal requirements, and project environmental commitments.
• Monitoring construction activities for dust emissions, noise levels, air quality, wastewater management, and hazardous material handling.
• Verifying the implementation of environmental mitigation measures to minimize impacts on surrounding communities and natural resources.
• Maintaining records of environmental inspections, monitoring data, permits, approvals, and compliance documentation.
• Supporting investigations of environmental incidents and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Sustainability and Environmental Management

This position involves promoting sustainable construction practices and environmental stewardship across all project activities, including:

• Supporting the implementation of sustainability goals related to energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and resource management.
• Reviewing and monitoring environmental performance against project sustainability targets and environmental objectives.
• Coordinating with design and construction teams to identify opportunities for environmental improvements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assisting in achieving sustainability certification requirements where applicable.

Stakeholder Coordination

The role requires active engagement with various stakeholders:

• Liaising with contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities, and client representatives on environmental matters.
• Participating in project meetings and providing professional advice on environmental compliance and risk management.
• Supporting environmental submissions and responses required by government agencies and approval authorities.
• Coordinating environmental awareness initiatives and training programs for project teams and contractors.
• Collaborating with HSE and quality teams to ensure integrated project compliance and performance.

Reporting and Documentation

Accurate reporting and meticulous documentation are essential for this position:

• Preparing weekly and monthly environmental performance reports for client and project management review.
• Reviewing contractor environmental reports and verifying the accuracy of monitoring records and compliance data.
• Maintaining comprehensive environmental documentation, registers, permits, and audit records.
• Identifying environmental risks and providing recommendations to mitigate potential project impacts.
• Tracking environmental KPIs and communicating performance trends and compliance status to project stakeholders.
