About the Role

UrbaCon Contracting & Trading Company is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a full-time position. This role is responsible for managing all cost aspects of civil and building works on projects, from initial stages through to final account. The primary objective is to minimize expenditure and maximize revenue efficiently, while maintaining strong relationships with Employers and Subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expand and maintain knowledge of all Civil and Building related matters pertinent to specific projects.
  • Administer subcontractors and ensure adherence to company procedures.
  • Collaborate with the site construction and technical teams to collect progress details.
  • Enhance knowledge of all Quantity Surveyor (QS) related matters specific to projects, ensuring all commercial and contractual aspects are managed effectively.
  • Manage Client Site Instructions and Variation Orders.
  • Ensure timely submission of payment applications to the Employer by the due date.
  • Prepare and regularly monitor Cash Flow and Budget, with updates at least once per month.

Commercial and Contractual Support

  • Provide contractual and commercial support and correspondence, including letter writing.
  • Prepare backup documentation and justifications for Client Instructions and interim Valuations.
  • Complete and submit monthly cost value reconciliations, cost-to-complete reports, and profitability projections within one week of Valuation submission.

Subcontractor Management

  • Place subcontracts on standard approved terms and templates, ensuring they are at a lesser amount than reflected in the allowable.
  • Ensure all interim applications are received on time from Subcontractors and included in KCT applications, then submitted on time to the Employer.
  • Ensure payment certificates for Subcontractors are valued no more than the value applied for or certified from the Client, and processed promptly.

Project Compliance and Change Management

  • Ensure all package preparation and tendering procedures comply with established guidelines and are correctly coordinated.
  • Ensure all changes to the scope of works are accompanied by signed-off Variation Orders, and that payment/deduction is secured from the Client/Project Manager and is back-to-back with the Main Contract.
