About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking a Sustainability & Environmental Supervisor - Saudi National to support the property in implementing and maintaining sustainability and environmental programs. This full-time role ensures adherence to company standards, local regulations, owner requirements, and destination environmental commitments. The position involves monitoring environmental performance, maintaining records, conducting inspections, and coordinating sustainability initiatives across various operational departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the property's sustainability strategy, initiatives, standards, and action plans.
  • Monitor environmental practices across operational departments and assist in identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.
  • Support environmental initiatives related to energy, water, waste, biodiversity, responsible sourcing, and pollution prevention.
  • Assist in monitoring electricity, fuel, and water consumption, coordinating with Engineering to review trends and identify unusual usage.
  • Maintain sustainability tracking tools and supporting documentation, tracking progress against established property targets.
  • Monitor waste segregation practices, ensuring appropriate separation, storage, handling, and disposal of waste.
  • Support recycling and waste diversion initiatives, coordinating with operational teams regarding various waste types.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, company requirements, and destination standards.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections, identify and report environmental risks, non-compliance, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain permits, reports, inspections, registers, and other environmental records, following up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support environmental protection measures related to marine, coastal, terrestrial, or sensitive natural environments.
  • Collect environmental data from operational departments and prepare monthly and periodic sustainability performance reports.
  • Support sustainability orientation and awareness programs for associates, including training sessions and campaigns.
  • Work with Procurement and operational departments to support environmentally responsible purchasing.
  • Follow all company and property policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and protecting company assets.
  • Report accidents, injuries, environmental incidents, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Communicate environmental standards and requirements effectively, maintaining positive working relationships with associates and management.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental procedures and standards, recommending practical improvements based on observations and data.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors or Managers.

Work Environment and Expectations

The role requires moving through all areas of the property to conduct inspections, including kitchens, engineering areas, waste areas, landscaping areas, and back-of-house locations. The supervisor will stand, walk, or move for extended periods when conducting operational checks and use computers and standard office equipment for extended periods. Adherence to property safety, security, environmental, and emergency procedures is essential, including using appropriate personal protective equipment when required and complying with hazardous material handling requirements.
