About the Role

International Maritime Industries is seeking a Work Preparator Mechanical to join their team in Ras Al Khair, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for comprehensive work preparation activities related to mechanical, machining, and repair & maintenance (R&P) work. The role involves defining the scope of work, quantifying tasks, and managing the documentation process from initial client proposals to work completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to, reinforce, and promote IMI Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Policies.
  • Conduct detailed evaluations of repair specifications, including itemizing man-hour requirements, total duration of repair, and preparing the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Prepare and requisition materials (PRs), manage inter-trade involvements, and facilitate direct purchases as necessary.
  • Issue internal requests and monitor their progress.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals and drawings for approval before work commencement.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches based on the identified scope of work, secure client signatures, and distribute as required.
  • Liaise with Operations project controls for information and submittals.
  • Assist in bid support as needed.
  • Prepare material lists for job execution and ensure material availability from the warehouse or through direct purchase.
  • Develop detailed job sheets for supervisors and record daily progress.
  • Prepare final work descriptions, including all supplies and man-hours used, for approval by the Senior Superintendent.
  • Update vessel files for Mechanical, Machining, and R&P repairs, capturing actual as-fitted mechanical components for commercial comparison with the initial Scope of Work (SOW).
  • Prepare work completion reports and certificates at the end of repairs.
  • Ensure timely closure of all relevant Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) and Service Receipt Notes (SRNs) for accurate cost capturing and gross margin calculation.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work, work packages, and specifications for outsourced work.
  • Liaise with the engineering team as required.
  • Optimize material usage based on BOM and minimize material waste, focusing on cost cutting and time saving.
  • Provide estimated man-hour details and job progress to Production Planning Units twice weekly.
  • Attend daily onboard meetings with Owner's Representatives and Project Managers to monitor work progress.
  • Develop work descriptions and perform other relevant tasks as directed by management.

Required Experience

  • Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in work preparation activities, particularly in mechanical, machining, and R&P work.

Internal Working Relationships

  • The role requires regular interaction with all production and project departments within International Maritime Industries.
  • Collaboration with other internal teams will be required as necessary.

External Working Relationships

  • Interaction with Classification Societies (Class).
  • Engagement with clients.
  • Communication with vendors, subcontractors, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
