About the Assistant Manager, Restaurants Role

W Hotels in Riyadh is seeking an Assistant Manager for its Restaurants. This full-time position involves the daily supervision of restaurant operations, contributing to guest and employee satisfaction, and ensuring high standards of service and sanitation. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying training needs and implementing plans to achieve departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager will oversee various aspects of restaurant and bar operations, including room service if applicable. Core duties involve assisting in the daily supervision of shift operations, supporting servers and hosts during peak periods, and ensuring compliance with all restaurant policies and procedures. This includes maintaining sanitation standards, monitoring alcohol beverage service in accordance with local laws, and managing operations to achieve or exceed budgeted financial goals. The role also requires performing duties of restaurant employees as needed and opening and closing restaurant shifts.

Guest and Employee Engagement

A significant part of this role is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. This includes interacting with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service, and supervising staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives. The Assistant Manager will encourage employees to deliver excellent customer service, handle guest problems and complaints, and set a positive example for guest relations. Reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees is also a key function.

Team Leadership and Development

This position involves actively managing the restaurant team. Responsibilities include handling employee questions and concerns, monitoring performance to ensure expectations are met, and providing constructive feedback based on service observations. The Assistant Manager will participate in department meetings, communicating clear and consistent messages regarding departmental goals. They will also supervise ongoing training initiatives, utilize on-the-job training tools, communicate performance expectations, and provide coaching and counseling to employees on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED and have 4 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or a related professional area. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, combined with 2 years of relevant experience, will be considered. The required experience level for this role is between 5 to 10 years.

Work Environment and Additional Duties

The Assistant Manager will work in a dynamic restaurant environment in Riyadh. Additional responsibilities include providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates through various communication channels, analyzing information to solve problems, and recognizing quality products and presentations. The role requires the ability to supervise daily shift operations in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
