About the Cluster Security Manager Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a forward-thinking and results-oriented Cluster Security Manager (CSM) to lead data center security operations across multiple sites. This full-time role requires a leader with proven experience in building high-performing teams, developing strategy, and executing security operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the physical security of AWS personnel, facilities, and customer data, while continuously evolving security practices to mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities

The Cluster Security Manager will be instrumental in implementing and verifying compliance with security procedures, standards, and policies. This role involves optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security operations, championing new initiatives, and overseeing their implementation in coordination with various business partner teams. Responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with data center business partners to execute comprehensive security strategies that enable customer capacity growth.
• Planning, developing, and implementing security programs, including Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Physical Security, and Incident Management, coordinating site investigations with the Global Intelligence and Investigative team.
• Maintaining extensive knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues, and security technology, and advising management on risks and threats to AWS employees and infrastructure.
• Performing continuous risk analysis for data center sites, focusing on crime, terrorism, workplace violence, and threats from natural and man-made disasters.
• Providing leadership and best practices on security policy and practices to on-site data center management.
• Identifying vulnerabilities early and designing and implementing strategies to address existing or emerging security gaps.
• Providing clear guidance and direction to AWS Data Center staff and contract security personnel to achieve strategic security program objectives.
• Supporting regional and global security leadership in conducting investigations of significant threats or asset loss.
• Developing and implementing security standards and procedures for all contract site security coordinators.
• Liaising with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies relevant to data center locations.

Role Requirements and Adaptability

This role demands the ability to adapt to a dynamic operational environment influenced by changing customer requirements, build schedules, vendor commitments, and evolving security threats. The incumbent must be able to work at pace, adjust priorities, and leverage established knowledge and experience in physical security, while understanding the interplay between physical and logical data protection. Interaction with demanding customers and meeting short-notice deadlines are key aspects of this position.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of physical security experience.
• 5+ years of security management experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
• Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading English.
• Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading Arabic.

Work Environment and Travel

This role requires autonomy and discretion, with significant creativity and judgment expected. The position involves operating with ambiguity and defining structure and processes where they do not yet exist. Approximately 25% travel is required, both domestically and internationally.
