About the Engineering Manager AHU Manufacturing Role

Daikin Saudi is seeking an Engineering Manager for Air Handling Unit (AHU) Manufacturing to be based in Sudair Industrial City, on the outskirts of Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for leading all engineering activities within AHU manufacturing operations, encompassing order engineering, manufacturing engineering, product support, and new product introduction (NPI). The role ensures the delivery of accurate engineering outputs, optimized Bills of Materials (BOM), product standardization, and manufacturable designs that align with Daikin's objectives for quality, cost, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities and Impact

This position serves as a critical technical liaison between Sales, Application Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Supply Chain. The primary focus is on the efficient execution of customer requirements while driving continuous improvements in product performance, manufacturing efficiency, and engineering capabilities. You will significantly contribute to strengthening Daikin Saudi's manufacturing excellence through enhanced engineering accuracy, product innovation, manufacturability, cost optimization, and operational efficiency across AHU production.

Engineering Management and Product Development

• Oversee order engineering, ensuring technical completeness, compliance, and manufacturability of customer orders.
• Lead the preparation and validation of accurate and optimized Bills of Materials (BOM) for production.
• Ensure engineering outputs align with factory standards, production capabilities, lead times, and quality expectations.
• Establish robust engineering review and validation processes to minimize errors and rework.
• Drive standardization of components, assemblies, and engineering practices across AHU product lines.
• Manage product development initiatives aligned with market needs and Daikin global standards.
• Oversee the industrialization and factory implementation of new AHU products and enhancements.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities for successful product launches.
• Lead value engineering initiatives to improve product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support product certification and compliance with HVAC standards.

Technical Support and Process Improvement

• Provide technical leadership and engineering support to Sales and Application teams for AHU solutions.
• Ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, competitive, and meet customer specifications.
• Support the resolution of technical clarifications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Production teams to ensure custom AHU designs are practical and optimized for factory execution.
• Drive engineering process improvements to reduce lead times and enhance operational efficiency.
• Establish engineering best practices, design standards, and controlled documentation.
• Lead initiatives for component standardization and inventory optimization.
• Improve engineering-to-production workflow integration to support lean manufacturing.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, engineering standards, and product specifications.
• Ensure proper revision control and engineering change management.
• Monitor product lifecycle performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Supplier Collaboration and Team Leadership

• Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to identify and develop new suppliers and alternative components.
• Support localization and cost reduction initiatives through supplier optimization.
• Drive BOM cost optimization while maintaining product quality and compliance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team to enhance technical competency and performance.
• Establish clear KPIs, development plans, and performance expectations for engineering personnel.
• Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Ensure effective manpower planning and workload balancing within the engineering function.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in HVAC manufacturing, with significant exposure to AHU systems and factory engineering operations.
• Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, product development, order engineering, and NPI management within HVAC manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AHU design, HVAC systems, psychometrics, manufacturing processes, and international HVAC standards.
• Experience with ERP systems, BOM management, AutoCAD, and engineering documentation systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, coil systems, insulation, assembly, and testing of AHUs.
• Experience in value engineering, localization, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Strong leadership, team management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with ISO quality systems, product certifications, and factory compliance requirements is preferred.
