About the Role

NextEra is seeking a NOC Engineer – Database Monitoring to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on ensuring the optimal performance and availability of critical database systems through continuous monitoring and proactive issue resolution.

Role Overview

The NOC Database Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the health, performance, and availability of essential database environments. This role involves real-time surveillance of Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL systems, identifying and addressing potential faults before they impact services, optimizing query performance, and escalating critical issues as needed to prevent service disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) for availability, performance metrics, and error conditions.
• Utilize monitoring tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and SQL Profiler, to diagnose issues and analyze database behavior.
• Detect and respond to alerts related to database performance degradation, long-running queries, lock contention, and storage growth.
• Perform query optimization analysis and provide recommendations to database administrators.
• Monitor database backup jobs, replication processes, and scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure successful completion.
• Trace issues across various database layers and document resolution paths.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive status updates during shift handovers, detailing open incidents and ongoing monitoring alerts.
• Escalate critical database failures to the Project Manager, providing full diagnostic information.
• Maintain detailed incident and performance logs for each shift.
• Evaluate and review daily task performance, sharing findings before the end of each shift.

Required Qualifications

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or an equivalent database certification is mandatory.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator or SQL Server certification is preferred.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh.
