About the Role

HCLTech is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is critical for maintaining and supporting predominantly Oracle products, ensuring customers can maximize their use of the technology. The position requires 5-10 years of experience and is open to Saudi nationals only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, support, and troubleshoot Oracle products, focusing on financial applications.
  • Perform Oracle Systems Database Administration across multiple environments to ensure 24x7 operation and availability for mission-critical production applications.
  • Utilize Unix Shell Scripting for OS-level system database maintenance scripts.
  • Ensure data and database system quality and consistency by adhering to defined procedures, including change control, security, user passwords, and backups.
  • Leverage operational experience with Oracle Database on RAC with ASM Disk, specifically on Oracle 12C/19C and above.
  • Migrate existing platforms to current engineered standards including Oracle 12c, Active Data Guard, RAC, and ASM for Test and Dev refreshes.
  • Participate in solutions architecture, product engineering, and continual service improvement initiatives.
  • Fulfill project-related database requests, including DDL generation, cloning, schema/table data refreshes, performance tuning, and database consolidation.
  • Collaborate with application/development partners to address reported performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database application issues across production, test, and development environments.
  • Create and manage a reliable backup strategy, including appropriate management of database backups.
  • Manage backup/recovery and provide Disaster Recovery planning, including testing scenarios and formulating procedures using storage technologies like NAS and RMAN.
  • Provide input into architecture and design for new Oracle Database implementations.
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls.
  • Optimize and simplify the database architecture.
  • Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the database.
  • Execute data migration jobs and scripts as required.
  • Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware for database usage.
  • Support and collaborate with product developers.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Determine and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity, identifying bottlenecks and deadlock issues.
  • Ensure SLAs and operational KPIs are met, working with internal and external support functions during major incidents.
  • Deploy and manage Oracle Database Encryption and Oracle Data Masking.
  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager for database monitoring, configuration, and report generation.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is preferred.
  • Experience in Oracle database administration, including installation, configuration, patching, database design, capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, backup and recovery, schema management, report generation, and database clustering technologies.
  • Operating system experience in Linux.
  • Familiarity with Oracle management tools such as Data Guard, RMAN, Data Pump, and OEM.
  • Experience with Oracle Database Partitioning.
  • Understanding of architecture design principles.

Required Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and performance tuning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications, translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
  • Strong practical experience of ORACLE in a production RAC (ASM) environment, specifically 19C.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and a sense of ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database encryption and Oracle Database masking.
  • Working experience within an organization heavily reliant on 24x7 database availability.
