About the Role

Alfanar is seeking a Production Lab and Glaze Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading and managing the Production Laboratory and Glaze Preparation sections. The primary objective is to ensure consistent quality, process efficiency, and production innovation through raw material testing, glaze formulation, process optimization, and team development, ultimately meeting production targets and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise laboratory activities, including raw material analysis, chemical testing, and providing advice for quality issue correction.
Develop and implement testing protocols for new materials and formulations, ensuring proper calibration and upkeep of lab equipment.
Manage glaze formulation, mixing, and application processes, collaborating with R&D and design teams to develop new glaze effects and finishes.
Monitor glaze performance during production, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate documentation of glazing recipes and process parameters.
Monitor shade variation, taking corrective action for deviations, and obtain R&D Manager approval for product changes before commercial production.
Communicate essential information regarding developed bodies, glazes, and pilot run production to relevant departments from body preparation to kiln.
Ensure specified parameters are communicated, included, and maintained across concerned departments.
Control pigments and raw materials related to glazes, regularly checking related inventory.
Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and support trials and pilot runs for new products and processes.
Prepare regular reports on lab results, glaze performance, and production KPIs, maintaining accurate records of tests, formulations, and process changes.
Participate in audits and contribute to quality assurance documentation.

Managerial and Operational Leadership

Recruit, recognize, and cultivate high performers to build a robust second line of management, while also guiding or managing low performers.
Ensure fair treatment of subordinates without discrimination, basing assessments on performance and planned results.
Maintain a delegation of authority matrix in line with company policy.

Deliver required results on time, with specified quality and cost, aiming to exceed business expectations.

Provide periodic work progress reports and control budgets and expenses for optimum cost efficiency.
Develop the organizational structure based on current and future requirements, ensuring job descriptions are available for all roles.
Develop and coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, seeking automation opportunities.
Utilize IT solutions relevant to the job and business, promoting the full use of automated systems.
Uphold quality as a prime competitive advantage, acting accordingly in all managerial capacities.
Adapt to new and alternative techniques, technologies, management structures, and business models.
Ensure a safe, secure, and legal work environment in accordance with standard regulations.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in production laboratory management, glaze preparation, or a similar industrial setting.
