The Role: Senior Accountant, Riyadh

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role is crucial for managing the Finance function and serving as a Business Partner to the local leadership team. The successful candidate will report directly to the KSA Finance Director and will be instrumental in ensuring minimum financial governance standards are met across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clear and accurate month-end reporting requirements according to the established timetable, collaborating with Commission Leads and Finance Leads to ensure accuracy of Management Accounts, Financial reports, and Forecasts.
  • Prepare key business reports, including Business Partnering, Project profitability, Project Revenue Trackers, Project Accounting, and WIP analysis.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, articulating and managing any reconciling variances in accordance with financial reporting standards.
  • Support other ad-hoc month-end reporting in line with the group timetable, including providing commentary for variance analysis.
  • Accurately record and maintain Revenue Trackers and Income Statements.
  • Assist with the annual statutory audit and support the annual Budget submission.
  • Process General Ledger journal transactions for both Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
  • Manage client invoicing, handling conflicting time and workload pressures effectively.
  • Perform intercompany account reconciliations and take necessary action.
  • Ensure compliance with both external financial reporting standards and internal accounting policies.
  • Support the preparation of monthly payroll, generate payroll journals, and perform relevant payroll reconciliations.
  • Respond to payroll queries as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Post-qualified experience with a minimum of 5 to 10 years in a relevant accounting role.
  • Demonstrated technical accounting strength and confident accounting skills.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • A challenging, analytical, and methodical mindset with the ability to investigate and interrogate data, supported by strong Excel skills.
  • Good organizational skills, accustomed to managing and prioritizing both personal and team workloads.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with senior management, ensuring objective alignment and effective business partnering.
  • A team development focus and a collaborative team player approach, capable of working with the team to agree priorities and manage time pressures effectively.
  • Good knowledge of KSA VAT and Tax laws and practices is a significant advantage.

Work Environment and Team Dynamics

This role operates within a fast-moving, dynamic, and demanding environment, often involving conflicting pressures and heavy workloads. The successful candidate will be a strong team player capable of working on their own initiative. Frequent interaction with senior management requires robust communication and interpersonal skills to align objectives and manage business partnering relationships effectively.
