About the Role

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Senior Testing & Commissioning Manager with a specialization in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS). This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires over 10 years of experience. The role involves leading the commissioning and grid integration of BESS within utility-scale renewable and hybrid power plants.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive commissioning and performance validation of various system components. This includes ensuring safe operations and full compliance with contractual and grid requirements.

• Reviewing BESS engineering designs, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) documentation, and commissioning procedures.
• Leading pre-commissioning and energization activities for battery racks, PCS, MV/LV stations, HVAC, and auxiliary systems.
• Configuring and validating State of Charge (SOC) limits, charge/discharge limits, and protection settings.
• Coordinating commissioning activities with Energy Management Systems (EMS), Plant Power Controller (PPC), SCADA, and substation teams.
• Executing functional tests, including grid-forming and grid-following modes.
• Supporting black start and islanded operation tests as required.
• Diagnosing issues such as PCS synchronization failures, EMS mismatches, battery derating, and communication problems.
• Leading troubleshooting efforts with OEMs and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a strong background in BESS and hybrid renewable plant commissioning.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in commissioning BESS or hybrid renewable plants.
• A thorough understanding of Li-ion battery technologies and degradation mechanisms.
• Expertise in PCS systems, EMS integration, and plant-level controls.
• Experience with grid ancillary services and hybrid plant dynamics.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Power, or Energy Engineering is required.
• OEM commissioning experience is preferred.
• Training in battery safety and fire systems is advantageous.

This is a full-time position located in Riyadh. The role offers the opportunity to work on utility-scale battery projects and hybrid plants integrating solar, wind, and energy storage technologies.
