About the Role

Mace Group is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join a significant program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to a large-scale, mixed-use development encompassing sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure. Mace, acting as a delivery partner, requires experienced professionals to lead integrated teams through all project phases.

Role Context and Purpose

The Senior Design Manager will serve as the primary design management representative within the Delivery Partner team. This position is critical for ensuring the successful coordination and delivery of design elements that align with project objectives, program timelines, and construction requirements. The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate a smooth transition from design to construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the lead design management representative within the Delivery Partner team.
• Lead and manage the Lead Design Consultant (LDC) through schematic, developed, and detailed design stages.
• Ensure the delivery of coordinated, complete, and buildable designs aligned with project objectives and program.
• Drive design integration across all disciplines to support efficient construction delivery.
• Ensure design outputs align with construction sequencing, logistics, and site constraints.
• Support the transition from design into construction, ensuring clarity, completeness, and buildability of information.
• Identify design risks, constraints, and coordination issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Operate in a coordination and assurance capacity, supporting delivery without relieving the Contractor of their obligations.
• Manage and oversee the performance of the Lead Design Consultant (LDC).
• Establish clear design deliverables, responsibilities, and review processes.
• Monitor the quality and completeness of design outputs across all disciplines.
• Lead design coordination workshops and technical review sessions.
• Promote collaborative working relationships and proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in design management on major projects.
• Proven experience managing lead design consultants (LDCs) and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Strong experience delivering commercial/mixed-use developments, Design & Build projects, and managing design through to construction delivery.
• Experience within delivery partner or PMC environments is preferred.
• Must meet necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and possess relevant work experience on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, as required for immigration and client approval.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working on one of the largest programs in the region, requiring close integration with a delivery partner team and various project stakeholders.
