About the Role

Penta Consulting is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on leading infrastructure automation across private cloud, OCI, GCP, and virtualization environments. The role is designed for individuals with 5-10 years of experience in infrastructure and automation, aiming to standardize provisioning, enhance cloud asset management, and improve operational efficiency through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation.

Role Focus and Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is infrastructure automation, operational control, cloud hygiene, lifecycle governance, and managed operations efficiency, rather than application DevOps. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing IaC templates for various platforms (OCI, GCP, SIT, private cloud, VMware/VCF), automating infrastructure provisioning, and building reusable automation templates for compute, network, IAM, storage, monitoring, and backup integration. The role involves standardizing automation patterns using tools like Terraform and Ansible, reducing manual operational tasks, and supporting automation for VM lifecycle management, patching, and operational handovers. Limited CI/CD pipeline usage will be supported specifically for infrastructure automation workflows.

Cloud Asset Management and Governance

This position will own cloud infrastructure asset management automation across OCI, GCP, SIT, and private cloud environments. Responsibilities include maintaining automated cloud inventory and resource discovery, identifying and automating the cleanup of orphaned or underutilized cloud resources, and implementing standardized tagging for ownership, environment, cost center, and criticality. The role also supports cloud resource lifecycle management from provisioning to decommissioning, integrates cloud asset data with CMDB/ServiceNow where applicable, and generates reports on inventory, utilization, and optimization opportunities to support FinOps initiatives. Automation templates will be used to enforce naming, tagging, and governance policies.

Documentation and Collaboration

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will define automation standards, reusable templates, coding practices, and operational runbooks. Collaboration with Storage, Backup, Virtualization, Cloud, and Systems teams is essential to identify automation opportunities. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving automation code and scripts, guiding junior engineers on automation practices, and ensuring all automation activities adhere to change management and approval processes. Maintaining version-controlled repositories for infrastructure automation assets is also a key duty.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates should possess 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, virtualization, systems, or automation roles. Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible is required, along with experience automating infrastructure across at least two of the following: OCI, GCP, VMware/VCF, private cloud, Windows, or Linux. A solid understanding of infrastructure operations, provisioning, patching, monitoring, lifecycle management, and governance is necessary. Experience with cloud landing zones, IAM, networking, compute, storage, and monitoring automation, as well as cloud asset inventory, tagging governance, and resource lifecycle management, is essential. Good scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar, familiarity with Git, and an understanding of ITSM, ServiceNow, and change management workflows are also required. The ability to design reusable automation frameworks is critical.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include multi-cloud automation experience, exposure to VMware/VCF automation, OpenShift or Kubernetes infrastructure automation, and ServiceNow workflow or CMDB integration experience. A basic awareness of FinOps and CI/CD for infrastructure automation pipelines is also advantageous. Relevant certifications such as HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Red Hat Ansible certification, Google Cloud certification, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certification, VMware certification, Red Hat/OpenShift certification, or ITIL Foundation are considered a plus.
