About the Site Mechanical Manager Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Site Mechanical Manager for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves overseeing the mechanical aspects of PV solar projects.

Project Execution and Site Management

The Site Mechanical Manager will be responsible for the execution and supervision of all mechanical works on PV solar projects. This includes the installation of mounting structures, trackers, solar modules, and associated mechanical components. The role involves interpreting and implementing approved drawings, method statements, and technical specifications at the site. Daily and weekly activities will be planned in coordination with the construction team to ensure project milestones are met. Monitoring subcontractor and manpower productivity to ensure optimal resource utilization is also a key responsibility.

Technical Installation and Coordination

This position requires overseeing the installation of fixed-tilt structures and single-axis trackers, ensuring proper torqueing, alignment, leveling, and adherence to mechanical tolerances. The manager will ensure solar modules are handled, stored, and installed correctly to prevent damage. Coordination with electrical and civil teams is essential for seamless interface management. Support will also be provided for site layout, string orientation, and tracker commissioning from a mechanical perspective.

Quality Assurance and Control

Ensuring that all mechanical works comply with approved Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project standards is critical. The Site Mechanical Manager will conduct inspections, raise inspection requests, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to mechanical installations. Maintaining installation checklists, as-built documentation, and handover dossiers are also part of the quality control responsibilities.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance

Adherence to project HSE policies, conducting toolbox talks, and promoting safe work practices are paramount. The role involves identifying hazards associated with mechanical installation and implementing effective mitigation measures. A strong safety culture must be promoted among subcontractors and site teams.

Reporting and Collaboration

Effective coordination with Project Managers, QA/QC, Planning, and Stores teams is necessary for smooth project execution. The Site Mechanical Manager will attend site meetings and provide daily and weekly progress reports. Highlighting potential risks, constraints, and material shortages in advance is also a key aspect of this role.

Commissioning and Handover Support

Support will be provided for the closure of mechanical punch lists prior to commissioning. This includes assisting during module installation completion, tracker calibration, and the final handover process. Ensuring that the mechanical scope of work aligns with commissioning schedules is essential.
