About the Role

Throne Solutions is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer for a contract position in Riyadh. This role focuses on ensuring the availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of enterprise production environments through automation and cloud-native technologies.

Role Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will integrate software engineering principles with IT operations to design resilient cloud infrastructure, automate operational processes, and enhance system reliability. You will collaborate with development, infrastructure, networking, and security teams to maintain highly available production systems and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Provision and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Deploy, administer, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and Docker-based containerized applications.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Go to streamline operational tasks.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
• Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (*, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
• Monitor application health, infrastructure performance, and service availability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Lead production incident response, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.
• Define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to improve platform reliability.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide production support.
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployments and operational readiness.
• Implement security best practices across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
• Support enterprise production environments, including Cisco-based infrastructure.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Production Support.
• Proven experience supporting mission-critical enterprise production environments.
• Must be authorized to work in Saudi Arabia.

Technical Skills

• Cloud Platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS) - EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, ELB, Auto Scaling, Route 53, AWS CloudWatch.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, AWS CloudFormation.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker.
• Operating Systems: Linux Administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Programming & Automation: Python, Bash, Go (preferred).
• CI/CD & DevOps: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Git, GitHub.
• Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch.
• Incident & ITSM Tools: ServiceNow, Jira, ITIL-based Service Management.
• Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Load Balancing, VPN, Firewalls, Basic Cisco Networking.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Experience in Cisco enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of cloud security tools and best practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure Monitoring and Application Performance Monitoring (APM).
• Familiarity with container security, Kubernetes security, and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, or GitOps methodologies.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or ITIL Foundation.

Work Environment and Contract Details

This is a contract role based onsite in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The position requires participation in on-call support and shift rotations as needed to ensure continuous operational coverage.
