About the Opportunity

WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our supervision consultancy team. This full-time role is integral to a large-scale infrastructure development project situated approximately 100 km north of Jeddah, within the Makkah region. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring the highest standards of mechanical and utility works on site.

Role Purpose and Project Contribution

The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Resident Engineer in the oversight of mechanical and utility infrastructure works. This involves ensuring all construction activities adhere strictly to project specifications, approved drawings, and established quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor mechanical and utility construction works on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.
• Assist the Resident Engineer (Mechanical) in overseeing all mechanical infrastructure works.
• Inspect and supervise the installation of potable water supply networks.
• Monitor works related to firefighting systems and associated infrastructure.
• Supervise the installation of gas distribution networks.
• Monitor the construction of stormwater drainage and sanitary sewage systems.
• Supervise the installation of irrigation systems and landscape-related mechanical works.
• Ensure contractor compliance with approved method statements, drawings, and quality standards.
• Review contractor submissions, including shop drawings and material submittals.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure proper construction practices.
• Assist in preparing inspection reports, site reports, and progress updates.
• Identify and report technical issues, non-conformances, and delays to the Resident Engineer.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this position should possess a strong background in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in supervising large-scale infrastructure or construction projects. A proven ability to oversee complex mechanical and utility installations is essential.

Work Location

This full-time position is based on-site for a project located approximately 100 km north of Jeddah, within the Makkah region. The role requires regular presence at the project site to effectively supervise ongoing works.
