About the Role

Arabian Consulting Engineering Centre (ACEC) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is for a professional with strong expertise in EPC environments and petrochemical/refinery plants. The role focuses on electrical design, power systems, and troubleshooting, contributing to large-scale industrial projects from FEED through detailed engineering.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing and reviewing electrical design packages, leading power system studies, and providing technical support. This includes ensuring compliance with international standards and coordinating with various project stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant electrical system designs and executions.

Electrical Design and Project Management

• Develop and review electrical design packages from FEED to detailed engineering.
• Design electrical systems ranging from 230kV, *** to 110V, including GIS switchgear, MCCs, MV/LV motors and VSDs, transformers, protection relays, and lighting/heat tracing systems.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and international standards such as NFPA 70/70E/497, ANSI/IEEE, and IEC.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review vendor drawings and integrate them into project designs.
• Support cost estimation, scope development, and material take-offs.
• Review electrical installations and permit applications, and support MOC (Management of Change) approvals.
• Participate in plant layout design, ensuring constructability, operability, and safety.
• Oversee the installation of electrical equipment in hazardous classified areas and interface with field teams, contractors, and clients.

Power System Analysis and Technical Support

• Lead and review power system studies using ETAP, including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, motor starting studies, protective relay coordination, grounding, and arc flash studies.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
• Provide recommendations to prevent recurrence and improve system reliability.
• Support maintenance teams and optimize equipment performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 10–15+ years of relevant experience in EPC companies and petrochemical or refinery plants.
• Strong background in electrical design and engineering.
• Proven experience in high-voltage and medium-voltage systems.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Hands-on experience with Siemens, SEL, and GE protection relays (design & testing).
• Expertise in ETAP software for power system analysis.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and translate them into electrical designs.
