About the Role

The Director - Development Financial Planning and Analysis will be a key member of the FP&A function, providing financial oversight for development projects. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh Province, and requires over 10 years of experience. The role focuses on financial management, project controls, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful financial execution of development initiatives.

Role Overview and Objectives

This position serves as a central point for financial planning and analysis related to development projects. The core responsibilities include financial oversight, managing project schedules and risks, interpreting data from various systems, implementing financial tools, governing variations and claims, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. The role emphasizes managing and challenging budgets, providing deep insights into variances, and developing action plans for course correction to ensure financial discipline and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial oversight for capital projects, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Prepare management packs, board decks, and executive management presentations.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear and actionable materials for senior leadership.
  • Confirm and track contingency utilization and releases across projects.
  • Review and assess provisional sum utilization requests.
  • Review and validate unapproved variations, EOT/EOTC, and contractor claims.
  • Ensure seamless system integration between project and accounting systems, tracking and resolving reconciliation issues monthly.
  • Identify and analyze project schedule changes using Primavera P6.
  • Proactively identify project risks and opportunities, integrating them into financial forecasts.
  • Build and maintain robust data structures and scenario models to support planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making for Development.
  • Standardize and enhance reporting frameworks, including KPIs, action trackers, and executive logs for Development.
  • Collaborate with internal FP&A teams, accounting, treasury, and other finance functions to ensure data integrity and process alignment.
  • Mentor and lead the team, fostering a rigorous and accurate approach to financial analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for reporting automation, process streamlining, and overall FP&A efficiency for the Development vertical.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or business management is essential. A master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or MBA are required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of overall experience with significant progression in the Finance Function.
  • More than 5 years of comprehensive FP&A experience.
  • Over 5 years in senior leadership positions with demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, C-level executive or Board Member engagement, management reporting, financial consolidation, performance analysis, finance transformation, and automation.
  • Experience in master development, construction, infrastructure, real estate, or similar industries is mandatory. Alternatively, over 10 years of experience in large multinational corporations (with annual revenues, capital expenditures, or operational expenditures exceeding USD 2 billion) is required.
  • Regional experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Big 4 or Tier 1 consultancy firms is strongly preferred.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position located in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. The role requires a dedicated professional to manage financial planning and analysis for development projects within the region.
