About the Role
Mastercard is a global technology company in the payments industry, focused on connecting and powering an inclusive, digital economy. This Director SME Sales Specialist role is based in Saudi Arabia, with a hybrid work arrangement in Riyadh or Jeddah. The position reports to the SME Head of Commercialization, East & West Arabia.
Role Overview
This strategic role requires a consultative approach and the ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients. The Director will lead the development and execution of SME growth strategies, combining sales leadership with strategic advisory support. Key responsibilities include helping clients identify opportunities, solve business challenges, and unlock revenue and profitability through tailored solutions. The role involves building and managing a strong pipeline through a hands-on, consultative approach, including on-site client interactions, needs assessment, and solution positioning across Financial Institutions and non-financial institution partners. The individual will identify, originate, and convert new business opportunities, develop SME ecosystem plays, and drive the commercialization of signed deals to achieve measurable revenue outcomes. This position contributes to achieving SME P&L objectives across key customers and broadly in Saudi Arabia, while supporting broader regional expert sales priorities aligned with Saudi Arabia business goals. The role also involves identifying product, proposition, and business innovation opportunities across SME payment segments and providing subject matter expertise and advisory leadership.

A core aspect of this role is to lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team culture. This involves promoting accountability, collaboration, strong execution, and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Deep knowledge of SME products and services, including SME card and solutions offerings, with significant experience in sales and business development within the SME space.
- Progressive business experience with a strong track record in the payments industry and a solid understanding of commercial and consumer payments.
- Strong strategic thinking and consulting capabilities, including the ability to assess client needs, translate market insights into actionable recommendations, and influence decision-making at senior levels.
- Experience in consulting, solution selling, or advisory-led client management, with a strong track record of working directly with customers in on-site environments to shape opportunities, guide implementation, and deliver business outcomes.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to drive outcomes through stakeholders and partners who may not report directly into the role.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams to achieve performance goals and deliverables.
- High bias for action, with a disciplined and results-driven approach to achieving sales targets and commercial objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and resolve them directly or through effective escalation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills, with the executive presence required to engage senior stakeholders, facilitate strategic discussions, and represent Mastercard credibly in client-facing environments.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position based in Saudi Arabia, with a hybrid work arrangement in Riyadh or Jeddah.
