About the Role

YO IT Consulting is seeking an R Quality Assurance Lead for a contract, remote position. This role is crucial for overseeing the quality, consistency, and trainer performance across R programming and data-analysis AI training projects. Your expertise will ensure that R training data is accurate, reproducible, statistically sound, clearly explained, and aligned with client expectations. This opportunity is with a rapidly growing AI Data Services company that supports major AI companies and foundation-model labs.

Role Overview and Opportunity

As an R Quality Assurance Lead, you will be instrumental in maintaining high standards for R-related AI training data. While there is no immediate project for this role, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future opportunities and gain access to our expert network. The selection process includes an AI interview, a domain-specific task, and a recruiter interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct spot-checks on R programming and data-analysis items.
• Review AI-generated R code, statistical explanations, visualizations, data-wrangling steps, and modeling workflows.
• Communicate project updates and R-specific standards via Discord.
• Address trainer and QA questions regarding R syntax, packages, statistical reasoning, reproducibility, plots, and rubric interpretation.
• Manage inactive contributors and track activation.
• Develop and maintain R documentation, style guides, examples, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
• Lead onboarding and training calls for R contributors.
• Identify and flag misleading statistical claims, invalid methods, non-reproducible workflows, or hallucinated packages/functions.
• Propose and implement improvements to QA processes based on identified recurring gaps.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Biology, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative field.
• Proficiency in English for understanding guidelines and providing clear feedback.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience using R for data analysis, statistics, research, analytics, teaching, coding, or technical review.
• Strong understanding of R syntax, data frames, vectors, functions, lists, factors, missing data, tidyverse, base R, statistical modeling, and visualization.
• Ability to identify common R-related issues, including incorrect statistical assumptions, invalid package usage, non-reproducible code, data leakage, flawed transformations, hallucinated functions, or misleading charts.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with R packages such as dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2, readr, stringr, purrr, *******, Shiny, R Markdown/Quarto, caret/tidymodels, lme4, survival.
• Experience with Git and reproducible workflows.
• Prior experience leading remote teams of trainers, analysts, reviewers, educators, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• Comfort working with platforms like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and GitHub.
• Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, code QA, or rubric-based review is a strong plus.

Work Arrangement

This is a contract, remote position. Candidates must be highly organized and capable of maintaining various documentation and tracking materials.
