About the Advisor Long Term Planning Role

Marafiq is seeking an experienced Advisor for Long Term Planning to join its team in Al Jubail, Eastern Region. This full-time position requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience to provide expert guidance and support in developing long-term strategies for Marafiq’s utilities service lines, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives and maintaining a competitive edge.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Advisor Long Term Planning will play a crucial role in shaping Marafiq's future by contributing to the development of its long-term strategy and associated strategic plans. This involves analyzing market dynamics, competitor landscapes, and emerging growth opportunities. The role requires providing strategic expertise to leadership on future business scenarios, conducting market research, and developing robust strategies adaptable to evolving market conditions. A key aspect of this position is designing and developing scenarios to assess potential impacts on operations and preparing risk mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure effective cascading of departmental strategy into operational business plans for vertical alignment and horizontal integration.
  • Contribute to the development of Marafiq’s Long-Term Strategy and strategic plan, considering market dynamics and growth opportunities.
  • Provide strategic expertise to leadership on future business scenarios and long-term business goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to inform long-term planning and ensure strategy robustness.
  • Design and develop scenarios to determine potential operational impacts and prepare risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports with findings and forecasts, offering strategic recommendations for management decision-making.
  • Explore and evaluate potential business growth opportunities within and outside Royal Commission areas.
  • Provide recommendations based on market dynamics, regulatory changes, technological advancements, and customer needs to identify and assess new business opportunities.
  • Advise on strategic options for joint ventures and their integration with overall supply planning efforts.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to build trust and understanding, upholding business ethics and integrity.
  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices.
  • Provide input and implement policies, systems, and procedures for the assigned team.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess a strong educational background and relevant professional experience. The position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in utility projects, strategic planning, or business development. A solid understanding of the utilities or energy sector, including project sourcing and evaluation, is essential. Experience in conducting detailed feasibility studies and developing business cases, along with a comprehensive grasp of the Techno-Commercial, financial, and operational aspects of utility projects, is expected.

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, strategic management, Economics, or a related field.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 10+ years in utility projects, strategic planning, business development, or a related field.
  • Sector Experience: Experience in utilities or energy sector planning, managing utility projects (water, power, wastewater), with a focus on project sourcing and evaluation.
  • Skills: Experience in conducting detailed feasibility studies and developing robust business cases. Strong understanding of utility projects' Techno-Commercial, financial, and operational aspects.

Professional Certifications

While not mandatory, candidates holding relevant professional certifications will be highly regarded. These certifications demonstrate a commitment to professional development and expertise within the utilities and energy management fields.

  • Preferred Certifications: Relevant certifications in Utilities Management, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Professional Engineer (PE).

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position based in Al Jubail, located in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia.
